Salem State's Nicolle Wood Elected National Chair of NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State University director of athletics and head women's soccer coach Nicolle Wood has been named National Chair of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee. Wood has been a New England Regional Committee representative previously, and has served as the New England chairperson since 2018.

Wood was named head coach of the women's soccer program in 2007 after serving as a long-time assistant coach. A 1995 graduate of Salem State she played goalkeeper for the Lady Vikings for four seasons (1991-94), winning four Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Confernece (MASCAC) champinships. She was promoted to athletic director in 2021.  

"It is an honor to be named to this leadership role for the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer committee," Wood said. "It has been an extremely rewarding opportunity so far to be part of the process of ranking our teams and providing a memorable championship to our student-athletes. As a former DIII student athlete who was fortunate enough to attend this tournament, I look forward to continuing to work with our dedicated group of representative as we continue to improve and enhance the experience for our teams and coaches."

The NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee is responsible for the organization and implementation of the national championship tournament, including the determination of the participants and creation of the bracket, as well as establishing playing rules and procedures for competition.
