Pesce Named First Team All-MASCAC, Moran Earns Second Team Honors

SALEM, Mass. –- Madison Pesce (Danvers, Mass.) was named to the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer First Team in an announcement by the league on Wednesday. Freshman Jasmine Moran (Falmouth, Mass.) was selected to the second team after a highly productive inaugural season.

Pesce earns her second selection after earning Rookie of the Year and second team honors in 2019. One of the top defenders in the league, the junior helped the Vikings to a 1.82 goals against average in seven conference games - 4th in the MASCAC, including two shutouts. Moran was Salem State's top scorer, producing eight goals and two assists for 18 points. The freshman's eight goals were fourth most in the conference while her 18 points ranked fifth best in the MASCAC.    

Delaney Parker of Westfield State and Samantha Tomaszewski of Bridgewater State earned the 2021 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors.
 
Parker, a first year student-athlete from Orange, Mass., made her presence known this year, helping the Owls to a MASCAC Regular Season and Tournament crown. In her first season, Parker led the conference with 31 goals, including eight game-winners and 70 points to earn MASCAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year. She currently leads DIII in goals scored while breaking the Westfield State record in goals and points in a season. 11 times throughout the year, Parker found the back of net two times or more, including four hat tricks. She also swept MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors and was named Player of the Week several times. 
 
Earning MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year is Samantha Tomaszewski from Bridgewater State. The senior defender from Sterling, Mass. was a part of the Bears defense that recorded seven shutouts, posted a team goal against average of 1.09 and held opponents to just 5.3 shots on goal per game. She has played and started every game (39) for the past two seasons and the Bears have recorded 14 shutouts in that span. She also netted two goals with two assists while starting all 18 games for the Bears who were 5-1-1 in MASCAC action. 
 
After leading the Owls to the regular season and tournament titles, Todd Ditmar of Westfield State has been voted by the eight coaches as the 2021 Champion's Choice Coach of the Year. 
 
Sitting on the MASCAC First Team with Parker and Tomaszewski are Michelle Belcher, Delaney Langton and Tory Viola-Laughery of Bridgewater State, Alyssa Porter of MCLA, Pesce of Salem State, Jaida Cochran, Jenna Hurlburt and Jenn Rennich of Westfield State and Megan Gurlitz of Worcester State.
 
Earning a spot on the 2021 MASCAC Second Team are Natasha Barnes, Cassie Brown, Megan Keller and Audra McDuffie of Bridgewater State, Shannon McCarthy of Fitchburg State, Julia Quindley of Massachusetts Maritime, Moran of Salem State, Lauryn Davis of Westfield State and Kristen Beidlemann. Leah Fitzgerald and Hailey Skowronski of Worcester State.
