WELLS NAMED TO 2022 ALL-MASCAC WOMEN'S LACROSSE SECOND TEAM

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Junior Jenna Wells (Revere, Mass. ) was selected to the 2022 All-MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Second-Team in a vote by the eight coaches from around the league on Tuesday. Wells appeared in 14 games, playing multiple positions. She tied for fifth on the team in scoring with 17 points (11g, 16a) while causing 26 caused turnvovers (11th in the league) and secured 36 groundballs.    

Hannah Guerin of Framingham State and Kelsi Brennan of Bridgewater State were the 2022 MASCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year. Guerin, a sophomore attack from Cumberland, R.I., had a strong year for the second seed Rams. She closed out the regular season second in the league with 59 goals with a conference-leading 88 points. She also tallied 29 assists, 24 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and three draw controls. In the win over Salem State on April 1, she found the back of the net five times and assisted on four more goals in the win. 
 
From Dedham, Mass., graduate student Kelsi Brennan was named the MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the MASCAC in caused turnovers with 37, four in ground balls with 56 and sixth in draw controls with 63. She also scored 16 goals with seven assists on 40 shots. She had three goals and an assists along with five caused turnovers, three ground balls and a draw in the Bears' win over Southern Maine back in March. 
 
Claiming the 2022 MASCAC Rookie of the Year was Nina Liquori of Bridgewater State. The freshman from Agawam, Mass. netted 39 goals and eight assists along with 21 ground balls, 12 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers. She scored four goals twice during the regular season, including in the win over Birmingham-Southern over spring break. Twice this season, she earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts the week of March14 and 21.   
 
After leading the Owls to the MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in the tournament, Jeff Pechulis of Westfield State was named the 2022 Champion's Choice Coach of the Year. This is the fourth time the coach has received the honor from his peers. 
 
Earning a spot on the 2022 MASCAC First Team with Guerin and Brennan are Taylor Carroll of Bridgewater State, Devon DeMeo and Regan Fein of Framingham State, Alyssa DiScipio of Mass. Maritime, Kara Banagan, Natalie DeMaio, Paige Jelliffe and Victoria Paine of Westfield State and Clare Conway and Lily Gendron of Worcester State. 
 
On this year's MASCAC Second-Team All-Conference squad with Liquori are Maggie Grout, Kathryn Simpson and Tara Palermo of Framingham State, Jenna Wells of Salem State, Megan Bailey, Emma Cretella, Olivia Hadla and Cassidy Harvey of Westfield State and Ava Gesner, Julia Ravenelle and Savanna Rosado of Worcester State.
