Salem State Topped By Hamline and St. Scholastica

LEESURG, Fla. -- Salem State lost a pair of games to Hamline and St. Scholastica on Thursday as their spring trip continued this week. The Saints won 8-5 while the Pipers picked up their second win over the Vikings 9-0 in six innings.

Isabella Perrotti had two hits in four at-bats for Salem State, which managed just five hits in the game. A passed ball and RBI groundout by Mackenzie DeSantis staked the Vikings to an early 2-0 lead. An error by St. Scholastica allowed Salem State to tie the game in the third inning, 3-3. However, a three-run home run by Samantha Paniagu in the fourth put the Saints on top stay. Emily Henning  adeded a two-run single in the sixth, but the Vikings could not draw any closer. Emily Carter allowed 10 hits and six earned runs in the loss with a strikeout.

The Vikings' bats remained cold in the second game, mustering just six hits in the contest. Carter pitched all six innings, giving up 12 hits and six earned runs with four strikeouts. Jenna Rubbelke went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Pipers in the win. Starting pitcher Theresa Klinnert went four scoreless innings, allowing four hits with a pair of strikeouts. Megan Rubbelke allowed two hits in two innings of relief.
