Vikings Outlast Anchormen

SALEM, Mass. -- Cory Cherico came back to outlast Jack Cadden 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at No. 3 singles in the deciding match as Salem State picked up a huge Little East win in their conference opener, 5-4 over Rhode Island College at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Sunday. The Vikings raise their record to 3-1 and 1-0 in the LEC. The Anchormen are now 3-4 and 1-1 in conference.

Andrew Muttiah and Roni Bazile picked up straight set wins, at No. 1 and No.2 singles respectively. Muttiah beat Josh Brien 6-2, 6-0 whiel Bazile won 6-4, 6-4 over Noah Morin. Rhode Island College took No. 4 thru No. 6 singles as the two teams split singles play.

Muttiah / Quentin Wilkins won No. 1 doubles 8-3 over Brien / Jack Cadden. Bazile / Cherico won 8-5 against Morin / Elijah Gouin at No. 2 doubles. Rhode Island College earned an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5 against Kevin Merino-Rivas / Parker Andreoli
