Colby Sawyer Defeats Salem State

SALEM, Mass. -- Colby Sawyer took five-of-six singles matches to cruise to a 7-2 victory over Salem State at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Sunday. The Chargers raise their record to 4-9 while the Vikings go to 1-1 on the season.

Andrew Muttiah took the lone point for Salem State with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Zsombor Homonnay at No. 1 singles. Roni Bazile / Cory Cherico earned an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over Ashton Meuse / Kham Savatdy. Muttiah / Quentin Wilkins lost a competitive match at No. 1 doubles, 8-7(11-9) to Homonnay / Aiden Jensen.

Colby Sawyer won No. 2 thru No. No. 6 singles in straight sets with Jensen winning 6-2, 6-2 over Bazile and Ashton Meuse earning a, 6-4, 6-2 victory against Wilkins. Peyton Meuse, Kham Savatdy and Cohl Schusler closed out the match with singles wins.
