Vikings End Regular Season With Win Over Bears

SALEM, Mass. --  Salem State secured the second seed in the upcoming Little East Men's Tennis Tournament, defeating Bridgewater State 8-1 on Sunday at The Central Camous Tennis Courts in the last regualr season match of the season. The Vikings imrove to 7-5 and 4-2 in the LEC. The Bears end their regular season 9-4 and 4-2 in conference, finishing in third place.

Andrew Muttiah (Colombo, Sri Lanka) led a Salem State sweep at singles, capping his spring season unbeaten at first singles, dispatching Jeff Pavao (Somerset, Mass.), 6-0, 6-2 for his eighth straight win. Roni Bazile (Brockton, Mass.) picked up his fifth conference win at second singles with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 win against Colin Lamusta (Lynnfield, Mass.). Grant Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) outlasted Kendan Ziegler (Hadley, N.Y.), 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 at third singles. Cory Cherico (Winthrop, Mass.), Giacomo Graziani (East Boston, Mass.) and Adam Stanneck (Washington, N.J.) all had convincing wins at fourth through sixth singles to help secure the victory. 

Muttiah / Cherico teamed up for an 8-6 doubles win at first doubles while Bazile / Parker Andreoli (Windham, N.H.) defeated Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.) / Charles Fiske (Taunton, Mass.) 8-6 at second doubles. Ziegler / Darius Desnoes (Ithaca, N.Y.) won the only point for Bridgewater State with an 8-6 win at third doubles.
