Vikings Overwhelm Castleton 9-0

SALEM, Mass. -- Andrew Muttiah (Colombo, Sri Lanka) won his third straight singles match this week without surrendering a point as Salem State swept Castleton 9-0 in a Little East men's tennis match at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Saturday. The Vikings improve to 3-1 in the Little East and 6-4 overall. the Spartans go to 2-8 and 0-5 in the LEC.

Muttiah defeated Phil Kluge Gorlitz, Germany) 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and paired with Cory Cherico (Winthrop, Mass.) for an 8-1 won over Kluge / Dante Buttino (Chestertown, N.Y.) at first doubles. Roni Bazile (Brockton, Mass.) beat Connor Davis (Derby, Vt.) 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and teamed with Parker Andreoli (Windham, N.H.) for an 8-0 shutout over Connor Davis (Derby, Vt.) / Jason Lipscomb (Bristol, Conn.) at second doubles. Adam Stanneck (Washington, N.J.) / Grant Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) won the third doubles point with an 8-0 victory for the Vikings.

Bellino won 6-1, 6-1 over Buttino at third singles, while Cherio defeated Lipscomb 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles. Andreoli and Stanneck prevailed at fifth and sixth singles respectively in straight sets with Stanneck not allowing a point.
