Vikings Dismantle Huskies 8-1

GORHAM, Maine -- Salem State easily defeated Southern Maine 8-1 in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday afternoon. The Vikings swept all three doubles matches and took 5-of-6 singles matches in notching their fourth straight win. Salem State moves  above the .500 mark and is now 5-4 on the year and 2-1 in the LEC. The Huskies now stand at 1-5 and 1-3 in the conference.

Andrew Muttiah (Colombo, Sri Lanka) and Roni Bazile (Brockton, Mass.) each won in straight sets without surrendering a point for the second time in as many days, defeating Jonathan Bartuccio-Pereira (St. Bruno, Quebec) and Zach Desmarais (St. Cyrille, Quebec) 6-0, 6-0 at first and second singles. 

Grant Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) and Cory Cherico (Winthrop, Mass.) each won handily at third and fourth singles with Bellino recording a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zac Howe (Arundel, Maine) and Cherico winning, 6-1, 6-2 over Ethan Rudnicki (Levant, Maine). Adam Stanneck (Washington, N.J.) won the fifth singles point with a 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory over Antoine Gignac (Quebec City, Quebec).

Muttiah / Cherico teamed up for an 8-1 win at first doubles while Bazile / Parker Andreoli (Windham, N.H.) won 8-2 at second doubles and Stanneck / Kevin Merino-Rivas (Billerica, Mass.) earning an 8-3 decision at third doubles.
