Rhode Island College Defeats Salem State 5-4
Providence, R.I.—Rhode Island College edged Salem State 5-4 in the Little East opener for the Vikings on Saturday afternoon at the RIC Tennis Center. The Anchormen remain undefeated at 6-0 and improve to 2-0 in conference. The Vikings slide to 1-4 and 0-1 in conference.
Salem State took four-of-six singles matches all in straight sets, but Rhode Island College swept all three doubles matches to prevail. Andrew Muttiah (Colombo, Sri Lanka) picked up a win at first singles, 6-0, 6-2 over Alex Borque (North Smithfield, R.I.). Roni Bazile (Brockton, Mass.) defeated Josh Brien (Johnston, R.I.), 6-3, 6-0 at second singles.
Giacomo Graziani (East Boston, Mass.) and Adam Stanneck (Washington, N.J.) won at fifth and sixth singles, 7-5, 6-1 and 6-2, 7-5 against Jack Cadden (Mattaposett, Mass.) and Dylan Tashdjian (Riverside, R.I.).
