WORCESTER, Mass. -- Vanilton Xavier's second half goal was the difference as Salem State held off Worcester State, 1-0 on "Senior Day" at John F. Coughlin Field. Salem State goes to 10-3-3, 6-1(MASCAC) while the Lancers slip to 4-6-4, 2-4(MASCAC). Xavier has now scored in three straight games (4g , 1a), tallying nine points.
A scoreless first half led to the game-winner by Xavier off a feed from Dylan Senra in the 63 rd minute. Matt Hauntsman, who finished with six saves, made a huge save in the final minutes, stopping Brendan Lower's header to record his seventh shutout of the season. Worcester State goalie Andy Ramirez saved four-of-five shots in the loss.
