Filetti Named MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year, Four Vikings Earn First Team All-Conference

SALEM, Mass. – Senior Patrick Filetti (Newburyport,  Mass.) earned his third straight  Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player Of The Year Award and highlights four Vikings, who earned 2022 first team all-conference honors. Joining Filetti are keeper Matt Hauntsman (Milford, N.H.), senior defender Dylan Senra (Dartmouth, Mass.) and first-year forward, junior Brendan Davis (Dracut, Mass.), who were selected by the eight conference coaches.

Filetti, a three-time first team selection, was once again named the league's best defender. As captain and leader of the Vikings' defense, Salem State allowed just five goals to conference opponents in 2022, which included a 0.71 goals against average. The Vikings have gone 18-1-2 in the regular season during Filetti's career. Hauntsman, a two-time first team pick, posted five shutouts, including a league-best four shutouts in conference games. The senior led the conference in wins (10) while making 84 saves (3rd).

Senra a first-time member of the all-conference team, started 17 games for Salem State this season and was a steady and consistent player for the Vikings. The senior provided leadership from the back while helping sustain one of the MASCAC's best counter-attacking units.

Newcomer Davis proved to be one of the top offensive performers in the MASCAC this year. He led Salem State with 10 goals - second most in the MASCAC and finished second in the league in points. (21). The junior proved to be clutch registering a league-best five game winning goals.
