Davis Explodes for Three Goals, Vikings Rout Falcons

SALEM, Mass. -- Brendan Davis (Dracut, Mass.) exploded for three goals as Salem State recorded their highest scoring output of the season in a 6-0 shutout over Fisher College on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field. The Vikings improve to 9-4-2 on the year and finish their home slate with a 6-2-1 record. The Falcons lose their fifth straight to go to 2-11-2 on the year.

Salem State honored three members of it senior class on Tuesday evening. Matt Hauntsman (Milford, N.H.) Cole Hay (Essex, Mass.) and captain Patrick Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) were recognized for their commitment and dedication to the men's soccer program.

Brendan Walsh (Westford, Mass.) set up the Vikings' first goal as the junior found Walaeddine Hounane (Salem, N.H.) open just outside the goal area. Hounane quickly sent a pass to Davis, who finished the play, scoring into a wide-open net just 10 minutes into the opening period.

Davis headed in a pass from Dylan Senra (Dartmouth, Mass.) for his second goal of the game in the 12th minute and garnered the hat-trick with his third score of the game in the 15th minute, giving the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

Hounane then turned a misplay by Fisher's goalie into a 4-0 advantage, heading in an easy goal at 18:18 of the first.

Felipe DeSouza (Medford, Mass.) went corner pocket from 14 yards away for Salem State's fifth goal of the first half. The Vikings racked up 16 shots on goal while not allowing a shot to the Falcons in the first half.

Michael Tavares (New Bedford, Mass.) notched his first goal of the year early in the second, making it 6-0 in favor of Salem State. Keeper Jonathan Chasse (Haverhill, Mass.) replaced starter Matt Hauntsman (Milford, N.H.) – 2 saves in the second half, and was credited with a save. Rafael Fabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made 14 saves for Fisher, who were outshot 25-3 for the game.
