Davis Scores Twice in Salem State's 3-0 Win

SALEM, Mass. – Brendan Davis (Dracut, Mass.) scored twice as Salem State shutout Fitchburg State, 3-0 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Saturday from Alumni Field. The Vikings improve to 7-4-1 and 3-1 in the MASCAC. The Falcons are now 1-9-1 and 0-3-1 in the league.

Davis put Salem State on top early in the first half after corralling a loose ball just outside the goal area and lining a shot past keeper Collin Robson (North Billerica, Mass.) in the 14th minute. Dylan Senra (Dartmouth, Mass.) made it 2-0 in favor of the Vikings after converting a penalty-kick in the 26th minute.     

Salem State limited the Falcons to just two shots on goal in the first half and did not allow a corner kick (4-0).

Davis added his second of the game and fifth of the year in the 53rd minute, giving Salem State a 3-0 lead. The Vikings' defense did the rest, allowing just one shot to reach the net while owing a 20-3 advantage in shots for the game.

Matt Hauntsman (Milford, N.H.) made three saves in the win, earning his third shutout of the season. Robson stopped 10 shots for Fitchburg State, which did not attempt a corner (8-0) for the game.
