Men's Soccer Set to Host MASCAC Championship -- Sunday, November 7th

2021 Men's Soccer MASCAC Championship

SALEM, Mass. --  Top seeded Salem State will host second seeded Framingham State for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday, November 7th at Alumni Field at noon. Both the Vikings and Rams are seeking their fourth MASCAC Tournament title since its inception in 2000.

Game Notes

  • No. 1 seeded Salem State (12-6) and No. 2 seeded Framingham State (8-11-1) will square off for the league's automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
  • The Vikings defeated the Rams 1-0 on October 2nd.
  • Framingham State is the last MASCAC team to score a goal on the Vikings, winning the 2019 MASCAC Championship 1-0.
  • Salem State is looking for its 15th NCAA appearance, the most of any MASCAC school.
  • The Vikings last went to the NCAA Tournament in 2017, defeating Westfield State in a penalty shoot-out.      

Post-Season History  

Salem State and Framingham State have met five times in the conference post-season tournament, with four of the meetings coming in the championship game. The Rams hold a 3-2 lead in the series. Framingham State won the last matchup 1-0 in the 2019 title game. Salem State notched a 3-0 semifinal win in 2017 after a 2-0 loss in the championship game in 2011. The teams split the previous two conference title matchups, with the Vikings winning 3-0 in 2010 and the Rams securing a 2-1 victory in the 2008 MASCAC Championship.
