Keene State Rolls Past Salem State

KEENE, N.H.-- Keene State rolled past Salem State 25-8 in a Little East matchup on Saturday at the Owl Athletic Complex. The Owls move to 9-4 and 5-1 in the LEC. The Vikings slip to 6-8 and 0-6 in confernece.


Joe Nutting netted four goals to lead Keene State as the Owls raced out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and a 19-1 lead at halftime.  Colby Quiet netted the opener with less than four minutes played, and Nutting scored twice in less than a minute for a 3-0 lead.

Haeden Finerty, Nutting, Rex Maccarini and Manning Kirker all piled on goals to make it 7-0 with 5:45 left in the opening stanza, before Maccarini set up Nutting for his milestone marker.  The goals continued to flow, as the Owls received goals from Connor Woods and Colby Quiet in the final 21 seconds for a 13-0 lead after the first period.  

KSC would net three more times in the second period before Salem State got on the board courtesy of Sam Cioffi, but Jason MaddenConnor Brown, and Garrett Fleury all scored for a 19-1 lead at the break.

The Owls hit the 20 goal mark for the fourth time on Maxwell Leschen's goal in the third quarter, and salted away the win by outscoring the Vikings 5-3 in the final period.

Chase Chamberlin started and played the first quarter, making six saves.  Charlie Giuliotti seven saves in the final three quarters. Zach Royal recorded 11 saves for the Vikings. 

Sam Cioffi led Salem State's offense with four goals and an assist while Kevin Albert had a pair of scores.
