Vikings Dominate Terriers

WATERVILLE, Maine - Sam Cioffi scored five goals to lead Salem State past Thomas 13-7 on Tuesday at Smith Field. The Vikings bump their non-conference record to 5-2 while the Terriers slip to 1-3.

Salem State took a 4-0 first quarter lead as Cioffi scored three straight goals to end the period. The Vikingincreased their margin to 6-0 in the second before Max Irons put Thomas on the board at the 7:01 mark. Daniel MacWhinnie made it 6-2 before the Vikings closed the quarter with three straight goals, including Cioffi's fourth and back-to-back man-up goals by Lake Fleming. The two teams traded goals in the third with Salem State exiting with a 12-5 lead. Patrick Guinee netted the final goal for the Vikings with 14:36 remaining in the fourth. Jakeb Weston added a man-up goal and Nathan Carter capped the scoring for the Terriers, making the final 13-7.

Fleming, Guinee, and Kevin Albert all had two goals apiece for Salem State. Zach Royal stopped 15 shots in the win. Daniel Guarino made 11 saves for Thomas. Salem State outshot the Terriers 45-42.
