Brian Cannata Places First at Thread City Invitational

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Junior Brian Cannata (Wakefield, Mass.) won medalist honors Sunday by shooting an even-par 70 at the Thread City Invitational, hosted by Eastern Connecticut at the The Windham Club in North Windham.  Cannata edged Eastern Connecticut's Jonah Dupuis (+1, 70) for first as Cannata held off the sophomore, carrying a two-stroke lead after the front nine. The Vikings finished runner-up as a team, tallying a team score of 314. The Warriors won the event (298) while Rhode Island College and Westfield State tied for third with a score of 327.

Ethan Doyle (Salem, Mass.) tied for seventh for the Vikings, posting a score of (+8, 78) for a top-ten finish. Ryan O'Leary (Billerica, Mass.) came in 19th (+12, 82) while Gloucester's Matt Martin (t-22, +14, 84) and Swampscott's Danny Dilisio (t-32, +17, 87) rounded out the field for Salem State.
