Gordon Wins 99-86 Over Vikings

WENHAM, Mass. -- Sean Bryan connected on 12-of-23 (52.2%) shots for 35 points and added seven assists, but Salem State was subdued by Gordon, 99-86 on Tuesday evening at Kanas Court. The Vikings slip to 4-2 while the Fighting Scots win their season opener to go to 1-0.

Conner Byrne added a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while Gordon had five players in double figures. Michael Makiej scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Bryce Smith added 22. Garrett Sattazahn, Caleb Scot, and David Massilon each booked 15, 10, and 10 points, respectively. 

The Fighting Scots opened the first half outscoring the Vikings 22-9. Three's by Jaden Castillo and Josiah Green cut the deficit to three points twice for the Vikings, but the Fighting Scots closed out the half with a 17-4 run to take a commading 50-34 lead into halftime. The Fighting Scots out-rebounded the Vikings 25-8 and shot 59.4% (19-32) from the floor.

Bryce Smith scored 13 second half points for Gordon, which saw their lead balloon to as many as 22 despite Bryan posting 24 points after halftime. However, the Fighting Scots received 27 points from their bench to pull away for a 99-86 victory.
