Vikings Beat Gordon 3-1

SALEM, Mass. -- Mackenzie Schmink (Danvers, Mass.) notched two goals and Hannah Cochran (Marshfield, Mass.) added a score as Salem State won its second straight game, 3-1 over Gordon College at Alumni Field on Monday afternoon. The Vikings up their record to 3-5 while the Fighting Scots slip to 2-8. 

Playing a scoreless first half that saw Gordon holding a 6-2 advantage in shots, Schmink put Salem State on the scoreboard off an assist from Mikayla Mason (Beverly, Mass.) in the 20th minute. Cochran scored her first of the year for the Vikings less than four minutes later, giving the Vikings a 2-0 halftime lead.  

Anna Rathbun (Gorham, Maine) got one back for Gordon 1:59 into the third to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Schmink added her second of the game midway through the fourth to ice the game.  

Kaia Hollingsworth (Methuen, Mass.) made nine saves to earn the win in goal for Salem State. Sophea Zaskoda (Lansdale, Pa.) stopped 10 shots for the Fighting Scots.
