WORCESTER, Mass. -- Allison Couillard's first quarter goal tied the game for Salem State, but Worcester State scored twice after haltime as the Lancers handed the Vikings a 3-1 loss in the Little East opener for both squads on Saturday afternoon at Couglin Field. Worcester State is now 4-0 while Salem State evens their record at 2-2.
Emily Saucier gave Worcester State a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute, but Couillard netted the equalizer just twenty seconds later. Neither team scored in the second quarter in a period that saw the Lancers outshoot the Vikings 5-0.
Lexie Panagiotopoulos gave the home team the lead for good when she beat the clock to end the third quarter. Emily Floury iced the game with a goal in the 51st minute.
Madison Ferrara made eight saves in the win. Kelli McCarthy stopped nine shots in goal for the Vikings.
