Bio

A Lynn native, Arthur Barresi was a four year varsity player on the Salem Teachers College Men’s Basketball Team, playing under then Head Coach Lawrence Lowrey.

His senior year, Arthur served as the team co-captain, closing out his career as the team’s leading scorer with 195 points. While he played at a time when the College kept few records, those who were there will forget Arthur’s final game, against Gordon College, when he scored 25 points in a single game (a phenomenal accomplishment in 1952!)

More often than not, Arthur was either the top scorer or second best in production. He was not an all-round athlete, often referred to by his classmates as “Mr. Basketball.” Those who knew him still say that Arthur Barresi was the “real deal.”
