WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State defeated Salem State 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-12) on Tuesday evening in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opener for both teams at John P. Brissette Court. With the win, Worcester State improves to 3-5 and 1-0 in the MASCAC. Salem State continues to seek its first win of the 2019 season, dropping to 0-5.
Sarah Janco (Methuen, Mass.) recorded a team-high seven kills while setter Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) finished with 13 assists and 11 digs. Alexandra Maloney (Bridgewater, Mass.) added five kills for the Vikings.
Stephanie Chapin (Hampden, Mass. finished with a match-high 12 kills and nine digs. Natalie Gillis (Ashland, Mass.) totaled eight kills, while sophomore Brooke Lamothe (Tewksbury, Mass.) led all players with 12 digs for the Lancers.
