Endicott Stops Salem State 3-1

BEVERLY, MASS. – Salem State lost 3-1 to Endicott on Wednesday evening in a women's volleyball match at MacDonald Gymnasium. The Vikings even their record at 1-1 while the Gulls move to 3-1.

Endicott cruised to a 25-6 first set victory, before Salem State roared back to take a 25-18 triumph in set two. The Vikings opened up a 15-10 lead after multiple errors by the Gulls. Darcy McDowell (Goshen, N.Y.) once again led the charge as she netted three straight kills around a service ace by Dina Roman (Iwakuni, Japan). Salem State hit .318 in the second set as O'Connor scored the deciding points with a kill and an ace.

The Gulls took the third set, 25-13 as the Vikings struggled, converting just four kills in 33 attempts (-.121) with eight errors before Endicott capped the win 25-14 in set four.

McDowell and Brynn O'Neill (Danvers, Mass.) led the way with five kills apiece. Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) and Mackenzie Salls (Turner Falls, Mass.) had nine assists apiece while Roman finished with nine digs.

Endicott's Mackenzie Kennedy (Andover, Mass.) had 17 digs and Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) contributed 34 assists and Alex Dippel (Fallston, Md.) 18 kills.
