Salem State 6th in MASCAC Preseason Poll - Volleyball Preview

SALEM, MASS. – Second-year coach Karen McNulty made tremendous strides in her first season as the head women's volleyball coach, catapulting the Vikings to 11 victories against 16 losses, the first time Salem State has reached double digits in wins since 2002. Their 3-4 MASCAC record was their best showing since 2004.

This season, McNulty hopes to continue the trend upwards and help the Vikings improve from a sixth place finish in 2017. This year Salem State was picked 6th in the MASCAC Preseason Volleyball Poll as voted on by the league's eight coaches. The Vikings picked up 20 points, as last season's champion, Worcester State was picked to finish first with 48 points.

COACH'S TAKE

"Despite being a veteran club and having a productive spring, it remains to be seen who will consistently put the ball away for us.  Our size, speed  & athleticism are respectable. We have several players who saw limited time last year but came in better condition in the hopes of contributing more.  We look to improve on eliminating unforced errors and need to work on being disciplined in maintaining focus, communication, & performing skills technically correct."
