Three Vikings Named to All-Conference Team, McNulty Tabbed Co-Coach of the Year

SALEM, Mass. -- Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.), Samantha Chaisson (Duxbury, Mass.) and Brynn O’Neill (Danvers, Mass.) were all named to the 2018 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Second-Team in an announcement by the league on Wednesday. Additionally, second-year head coach Karen McNulty earned Champion’s Choice Co-Coach of the Year with Bernie Chase of Worcester State after leading the Vikings to a 14-11 record and second place league finish.

SALEM, MASS. -- #3 Westfield State eliminated #2 Salem State 3-0 in the semifinals of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Thursday evening at Twohig Gymnasium. Ainsley MacLeod (Hampden, Mass.) recorded 19 kills on the night to lead the Owls into the championship match against top seed Worcester State on Saturday.

NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier defeated Salem State 3-0 in women’s volleyball action on Wednesday evening. Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, Conn.) racked up nine kills and 18 digs to lead the Raiders as Rivier improved to 23-6 on the season. The Vikings are now 14-9 on the year.

Salem, Mass. – Brynn O’Neill (Danvers, Mass.) recorded a match-high 12 kills and added 10 digs as Salem State defeated Westfield State 3-1 (25-11, 14-25, 25-16, 25-17) on “Senior Night” in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action on Wednesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium. The Vikings up their record to 13-8 and are now 5-1 in conference while the Owls slip to 7-13 and 4-2 in the MASCAC.

Fitchburg, Mass. – Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) had 20 assists and 15 digs while Brynn O’Neill (Danvers, Mass.) added nine kills, one service ace and three digs as Salem State defeated Fitchburg State 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 9-25) in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Parkinson Gymnasium. The Vikings move to 12-8 and 4-1 in the MASCAC while the Falcons go to 2-17 and 0-5.
Colby Sawyer Outlasts Salem State on Think Pink Night

SALEM, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers outlasted the Salem State Vikings in five sets on "Think Pink" night at Twohig Gymnasium. Anna Allen (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 42 assists, 12 digs, and four kills to help the Chargers win its three sets 25-15, 25-11, and 15-12. Colby-Sawyer improves to 15-8 and the Vikings slip to 11-8 on the season.

SALEM, Mass. – Worcester State scored a 3-0 victory over Salem State and in the process took sole possession of first place in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in volleyball action at Twohig Gymnasium on Tuesday everning. The Lancers won by scores of 26-24, 25-13, and 25-14 and remain unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play. Worcester State improves to 12-7 on the season. The Vikings fall to 11-7 on the year and suffer their first loss in league play and are now 3-1.

Salem, Mass. – Salem State came back from a 2-0 deficit to claim an exciting 3-2 victory over Norwich on Thursday evening in non-conference volleyball action at Twohig Gymnasium. The Vikings earned the five-set win by scores of 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-14 and 16-14.

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College defeated Salem State 3-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears won 25-13, 25-7, 25-7 to improve to 14-1 on the season. The Vikings go to 10-6.

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State hosted MCLA and the University of St. Joseph in a tri-meet at Twohig Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings opened up with a 3-0 win over MCLA, 25-18, 25-10 and 25-19 and followed up with a four-set win over St. Joseph (Conn.) 27-25, 21-25, 25-17 and 25-14 to go 2-0 on the day. The Blue Jays defeated the Trailblazers in four sets, 25-20, 25-23, 19-25 and 25-15 to finish 1-1 while MCLA ended the day 0-2.

SALEM, Mass. – Salem State swept the Lesley Lynx 3-0 on Monday at Twohig Gymnasium for their fifth win of the season. The Vikings won (25-22, 25-15, 25-17) and improve to 5-4 on the season while the Lynx fall to 1-6.
