Bridgewater State Gets Past Salem State 7-2

SALEM, Mass. – Despite solid play at first singles and doubles, Salem State succumbed 7-2 to Bridgewater State in a Little East Conference match on Tuesday at the Central Campus Tennis Courts. The Bears improve to 3-5 on the year and even their record at 2-2 in the Little East. The Vikings lose their third straight and slip to 1-3 overall and in conference.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) remained unbeaten in singles play in the Little East with a 7-6, 6-1 decision over Sailor Nordstrom (New Bedford, Mass.) at no.1 and teamed with Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) for an 8-4 win over Nordstrom and Emma Mills (Westport, Mass.) at first doubles. 

Bridgewater State won 8-4 and 8-2 at second and third doubles respectively as Rachel Tarantino (Mansfield, Mass.) /  Angelique Gray (Barnstable, Mass.) defeated Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.) and Olivia Sweeney (Taunton, Mass.) / Vanessa Rosa (Taunton, Mass.) beat Liana Angelis (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.).

The Bears swept the remaining singles matches in straight sets.
