Panthers Topple Vikings 8-1

SALEM, Mass. --  Plymouth State swept all three doubles matches enroute to an 8-1 victory over Salem State in a Little East Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.  The match which began at the outdoor courts on Central Campus was moved to the indoor courts at the Bass River Tennis Club to finish due to rain.  The Panthers improve to 3-1 and 2-0 in the Little East while the Vikings go to 1-1 overall and in conference.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) garnered the only point of the day for Salem State with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sage Winter (Eliot, Maine) at first singles as the Panthers took five-of-six singles matches.

S. Winter and Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) paired for a win at first doubles, 8-6 over Startseva and Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.). Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) and Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) won 8-3 against Caroline Robitalle (South Hadley, Mass.) and Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass) while Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) earned an 8-2 win at third doubles over Liana Angelis (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Alexandria Floyd (Burlington, Mass.).
