Salem State Names Madeline Allaire ’19 New Head Women’s Tennis Coach

Salem, Mass. – Salem State interim athletic director Nicolle Wood is pleased to announce the hiring of former Viking, Madeline Allaire '19, as the new Salem State head women's tennis coach. "A standout tennis player and leader as a student-athlete, we are happy to have Madeline join the Viking family as a coach. She is a respected tennis instructor and has a strong background in strength and conditioning. We look forward to her being an asset to the University and athletics department." Allaire replaces Dan McCormick, who guided the Vikings for two seasons.

Allaire posted a 25-16 career mark at first and second singles, earning first team All-Little East honors in singles and doubles in 2018. Her .610 career winning percentage ranks seventh all-time while her 12 singles wins in 2018 are the fourth most victories in a season in Salem State history.

Allaire grew up in Columbus, Ohio where she played competitively in USTA Tournaments throughout middle school and high school, placing first at sectionals and third in the Midwest on her 14U USTA Team Tennis Team.  She was a three-year starter (2016-18) for the Vikings, playing first and second singles and doubles. Allaire also served as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Co-President her senior year.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude in the spring of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training.  In addition to being captain, she was a two-time team MVP.

"I am incredibly excited to be joining the coaching staff at Salem State University.  I see a lot of potential with the tenacity and grit of the student-athletes, and I am looking forward to fostering an environment to help the athletes and program grow to even greater heights."
