Emerson Beats Salem State 6-3

SALEM, MASS. – Emerson won two of three doubles matches en route to a 6-3 win over Salem State at The Central Campus Tennis Courts on Sunday. The Lions improve to 2-2 while the Vikings slip to 7-5.

Anastasia Startseva (Volgograd, Russia) / Madeline Allaire (Columbus, Ohio) defeated Rachel Scalera / Eliana Flores-Barber (Long Beach, Calif. ) 8-6 at first doubels and each won both of their singles matches to collect all three points for Salem State. Startseva beat Annie Woodbury (Salinas, Calif.) 6-3, 6-3 at first singles while Allaire shutout Scalera 6-0, 6-0 at second singles.

Alex Weingarten (Carlsbad, Calif.) / Woobury and Cassia Burns (Tewksbury, Mass.) / Mackenzie Swaney (Old Lyme, Conn.) picked up wins at second and third doubles respectively for Emerson. Weingarten / Woodbury won 8-3 over Meredith Macdonald (Lynn, Mass.) / Kristin Klimowicz (Ipswich, Mass) while Burns and Swaney earned an 8-0 win against Caroline Robitaille (South Hadley, Mass.) / Hannah Dahrouge (South Hadley, Mass.).
