Salem State Women's Soccer Signs Team Impact Recruit Caroline Swearingen

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State women's soccer introduced Team Impact recruit Caroline Swearingen of Marblehead, Mass. on Tuesday, April 2. Caroline signed her letter of intent in a ceremony at Alumni Field during Salem State's softball doubleheader against Gordon College.  

Members of Salem State's student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC), the women's soccer team as well as many Vikings' supporters were on hand to support Caroline, who was diagnosed in 2017 with a rare blood vessel disorder.

Head women's soccer coach Nicolle Wood officially welcomed Caroline to the Salem State family. "Our team is proud and really honored to have Caroline joining us. She has spent some time getting to know our players and has already impacted them with her humor, resilience, and positive attitude. We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to having her be part of the Viking family."

Caroline was recruited through a partnership with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization based in Quincy, Massachusetts chartered to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening illnesses. Team IMPACT helps draft children onto local college athletic teams, which allows them to become an official member of the team for the duration of their treatment and beyond.
