SALEM, Mass. - Ally Webster (Hanson, Mass.) and MacKenzie Mallet (York, Maine) each produced a goal and assist as the Salem State Vikings blazed past the Anna Maria AMCATS 5-0 at Richard H. Rockett Arena on Wednesday night. Anna Maria drops to 2-9-1 on the season while Salem State goes to 3-11-1 on the year.
Mallet's breakaway shot into the bottom left corner put the Vikings on top 1-0 with 11:01 to go in the first period. With 6:32 left in the period, Salem State notched its second goal as Carolyn Mahoney (Melrose, Mass.) juked around a defender and shot it high into the top of the net to make it a 2-0 game.
1:57 into the second period, goalie Julia Smith (Chilliwack, British Columbia) couldn't handle the puck in the crease and Webster tipped it in to extend the Vikings' lead to 3-0.
Vanessa VanBuskirk (Winthrop, Mass.) scored Salem State's fourth goal of the game with 8:20 to go in the second period as she took a shot just inside of the blue line. The Vikings led 4-0.
Rose Sullivan (Charlestown, Mass.) scored the final goal of the second period to help Salem State take a commanding 5-0 lead.
