Trinity Skates to 6-1 Victory Over Salem State

SALEM, Mass. - Cassidy McNeeley (South Easton, Mass.) scored a goal and added an assist to boost the Trinity Bantams to a 6-1 non-conference victory over the Salem State Vikings on Friday night at Richard H. Rockett Arena. The Bantams even their record at 3-3 on the year while Salem State falls to 2-6-1 on the season.

Just 4:04 into the first period, Ethel Wilhelmsson (Stockholm, Sweden) found Ellie Fellows (Westport, Mass.) behind the net, who slipped the puck past goalie Sarah Plourde (Hooksett, NH) for a 1-0 lead. Trinity led 1-0 after one despite outshooting Salem State 19-2 for the period.

The Bantams broke open the game with four unanswered goals in the second period, McNeeley set up Lily Kate Delaney (Groton, Mass.), who shot it into the left side of the net to put Trinity up 2-0 with 13:01 left.

Later, Taylor Foy (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) took a shot from just inside the blue line which was saved by Plourde. However, Bailey McKeon (Frisco, Texas) recovered the puck and found an opening to extend the lead to three goals.

The Bantams went on to score two more goals in the second period from Alex Sinson (Elm Grove, Wisc.) and Wilhelmsson to lead 5-0, racking up 17 more shots than the Vikings (20-3) in the period.

Casie Curtin (Wrentham, Mass.) broke the shutout with a goal in the third period with 14:06 left to bring the Vikings to within 5-1.

McNeeley answered for Trinity with eight minutes to go to cap the scoring.

Trinity outshot Salem State 47-10 for the game.

The Bantams goalie Kai-Lilly Karpman (Playa Del Ray, Calif.) earned the win and finished with one goal allowed with nine saves.

Plourde took the loss, giving up six goals with 41 saves.
