PAWTUCKET, RI – Ashley Wojewodzic tallied the only score for Salem State in the Vikings 3-1 loss to Johnson & Wales on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats improve to 7-12-3 and 5-7-1 in the New England Hockey Conference. The Vikings slip to 6-13-3 and 3-9-2 in coference.
Trailing 3-0, Wojewodzic put back a rebound of Ally Webster's shot midway through the third for Salem State's only score.
Sarah Plourde made 17 saves while her counterpart Jasmine Mucci stopped 15 shots.
The two first-period goals came less than three minutes apart. Hannah Tracy started the scoring at 15:19 off a pass from Molly Gray. Cassie Wakefield finished a backhanded pass from Tracy at 17:59 to end the period with a 2-0 advantage.
The lead grew to three the second period when Drea Westgaard set up Victoria Perez at the 4:51 mark.
The Wildcats outshot the Vikings 20-16.
