Vikings Top Curry 7-2

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State cruised to a 7-2 victory over Curry College on Wednesday afternoon. The Vikings, behind Mitchell Dyer  (N. Attleboro, Mass. ) and Chen Chen (Lawrence, Mass.) who won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 singles  and teamed up for a victory at No. 2 doubles, up their record to 5-4 on the season. The Colonels are now 3-12.

Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) / Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) earned a point for Curry in doubles play as the duo defeated Andrew Muttiah (Colombo, Sri Lanka) / Roni Bazile (Brockton, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles. The Vikings rebounded as Chen and Dyer won their match 8-6 while Johnson Ngandjui (Lynn, Mass.) / Noah Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.) picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.  

Roach defeated Muttiah at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-3 for the Colonels second point of the match. Salem State responded by sweeping the remaining sets in securing the victory. Bazile, Dyer and Chen all won handily at No. 2 - No. 4 singles. Hodgkins won 6-1, 6-1 oner O'Brien at No. 5 while Ngandjui earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 6.
