Vikings Remain Unbeaten at Home

SALEM, Mass. – The Salem State Vikings remained unbeaten at home (7-0) with a 2-0 win over New England College at Alumni Field on Wednesday evening. The Vikings have won six out of their last seven games in improving to 10-1-1. The Pilgrims slip to 4-6-3 on the season.

In the 18th minute, Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) delivered a slick lead pass that freed up Lucas Amaral (Peabody, Mass.) to put the Vikings on the board.  Amaral's shot found the right side of the net giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

Salem State played physical defense to hold on to their lead, limiting New England College to four shots in the first half.

In the 72nd minute, Christopher TenBroeck (Pepperell, Mass.) from the right side of the field assisted Ali Ewiess (Amherst, N.H.) with a low cross to put the Vikings ahead 2-0.

Salem State outshot the Pilgrims 18-7 and had six corners in the game to New England College's three.

Christopher Jimenez (Nashua, N.H.) had three saves, including a crucial, diving save to prevent Hans Fanfan (Yarmouth, Mass.) from scoring. For the Pilgrims, Robbie Ferguson (Hopkinton, N.H.) stopped six shots for the game.

Salem State looks to extend their winning streak against Worcester State at home on Saturday.
