Dean Pushes Past Salem State

SALEM, Mass. - Louis Piccolo (Foxborough, Mass.) netted four goals and had an assist to power the Dean Bulldogs to a 13-9 win over the Salem State Vikings on Tuesday night at Alumni Field. The Bulldogs improve to 3-1 on the season while the Vikings drop to 2-2 on the year.

Danny Antonellis (Westfield, Mass.) (2), Kevin Albert (Canton, Mass.) (2), Zach Royal (Abington, Mass.) (1), Drew Worthley (Saugus, Mass.) (1), Nick Quirk (Fitchburg, Mass.) (1), Zach Rufo (Malden, Mass.) (1), and Zach Persson (Danvers, Mass.) (1) all for Salem State.

Piccolo passed it high to Kroposki who shot it towards the top corner giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead within the first two minutes of the game. Rufo set up Quirk, who shot it towards the far side of the net to tie it 1-1 with 10:09 left in the first quarter.

The Vikings trailed 2-1 towards the end of the first quarter before Rufo netted a goal in the last 13 seconds to level the score 2-2. Dean led Salem State 5-4 going into halftime.

The Bulldogs scored two quick goals from Billingsley and Kroposki in the first two minutes of the third quarter to go up 7-4. Dean continued their dominance in the third quarter by outscoring Salem State 7-2. Piccolo and Wendt each scored two goals in the third quarter to push the Bulldogs to a 12-6 lead by the end of the third quarter.

The Vikings couldn't climb back into the game as they only scored two goals in the fourth quarter. Alex Govoni (Lakeville, Mass.) earned the win (3-1) finishing with nine goals allowed and 18 saves. Jack Ganter (Lynnfield, Mass.) wound up with the loss (2-2) ending with 13 goals allowed and 13 saves.
