Callum Hofford Earns All-MASCAC First Team Honors

SALEM, MASS. -- Callum Hofford (Woodbridge, Ontario) was named to the 2019-20 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Ice Hockey First Team in a vote by the league's seven coaches on Wednesday. The senior defenseman was second in goals (6) for Salem State and accumulated a team-high 13 assists. His 19 points topped the league by a defenseman while his four power play goals tied for first in the MASCAC. Hofford's 17 career power play goals tied for 4th all-time at Salem State. 

Brian McGrath of Fitchburg State was named the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Year. McGrath, a junior goalie from Worcester, Mass., helped the Falcons to an 11-3-4 league record and the second seed in the MASCAC Tournament. At the end of the regular season, he was atop the conference in goals against average at 1.97, saves with 797, save percentage at .945 and winning percentage at .727 with four shutouts on the year.
 
Earning the 2019-20 MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors was Myles Abbate of Plymouth State. Helping the Panthers to their fourth-straight MASCAC regular season title and top spot in the tournament, the freshman forward from Norwell, Mass. closed out his first year first on the team in goals with 14, third in game-winning goals with three and led all freshman in the league in scoring with 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists. 
 
Dean Fuller of Fitchburg State was named the 2019-20 Champion's Choice Men's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year after leading the Falcons to a 14-8-4 regular season mark, 11-3-4 in conference play and the second seed in last week's tournament.
 
Joining McGrath on the MASCAC All-Conference First Team are Ryan Murphy of Fitchburg State, Steven Leonard of UMass Dartmouth and FX Girard at forward, Callum Hofford of Salem State and Josh Boulos of Westfield State on defense. 
 
Landing on the MASCAC Second Team with Abbate is Dillon Radin of UMass Dartmouth and Daniel Backstrom at forward, Drake Longaker of Plymouth State and Sean Leonard of UMass Dartmouth on defense and Thierry Messervier in goal.
