Salem State Ties Framingham State 3-3

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Salem State relinquished a two-goal third period lead as Framingham State came back to tie the Vikings, 3-3 in a MASCAC matchup at Loring Arena on Saturday afternoon. Salem State is now 3-11-4 and 3-6-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). The Rams stand at 2-13-2 and 1-9-1 in conference.

The Vikings got on the board in the opening minute of play when Connor Woolley snuck in a one-time shot off a pass from Richard Coyle. The Rams answered around the five-minute mark with a Bryan Whelan wrist shot to tie the game at 1 all. The Vikings retook the lead after Billy McGwin snuck one past Rams keeper Blake Carlson less than thirty seconds later. The visitors extended their lead when Coyle finished a one-time pass from Matt Yianacopolous on the power play just over three minutes into the second.

The Rams cut their deficit to one when Matthew Paiotti poked in a rebound after a shot from Christopher Rupp on the powerplay in the first half of the third period. The Rams tied the score with just over six minutes to play when Paiotti sent in a pass from Soren Colstrup right in front of the crease. Both teams had opportunities in the remainder of regulation and over time but strong goaltending on both sides preserved the tie.
