SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State and Southern Maine skated to a 1-1 tie on Tuesday evening in a game that was rescheduled from a week ago. Sean Cleary (Barnstable, Mass.) made 24 saves for the Vikings who are now 2-5-1 on the season. Goaltender Anthony D'Aloisio (Frisco, Texas) stopped 22 shots for the Huskies, who now stand at 1-5-2.
Tyler Mathieu (Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia) put Southern Maine on top 1-0 in the 19th minute of the first when the senior took a nice feed from Michael Green (Baie d'Urfã, QC), who threaded a pass from just above the right circle, and beat goalie Sean Cleary (Barnstable, Mass.) stick side for the only score of the first.
A scoreless second period preceded Jimmy Currier's (Middleton, Mass.) game-tying goal 1:43 into the third. Neither team could capitalize on the power play as the game ended in a stalemate.
Southern Maine held a slight 25-23 advantage in shots while the two teams went a combined 2-11 (.18.1%) on the power play.
