Salem State Men's Basketball Holiday Classic -- Dec 29th & 30th

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State will host its annual men's basketball "Holiday Classic" on Sunday, December 29th and Monday, December 30th at Twohig Gymnasium.  This year, the men's classic will include Endicott, Clark, Williams and the host Vikings. Salem State women's basketball will entertain Medgar Evers in a non-conference game at 5:00 PM on Sunday.

December 29 - Holiday Classic Men's:                                                            

Endicott vs. Williams 1:00 PM

Clark vs. Salem State 3:00 PM

* Salem State women's basketball will host Medgar Evers in a non-conference game at 5:00 PM.

December 30 - Holiday Classic Men's:

Endicott vs. Clark 4:00 PM

Williams vs. Salem State  6:00 PM


         ENDICOTT GULLS (7-3) 

  • Endicott comes into the classic having won four games in a row, defeating Salem State, 89-61 on December 12.
  • Keith Brown leads the team in scoring (22.2 ppg) rebounding (6.5 rpg).
  • Jalen Echevarria 14.8 ppg has earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week twice this season
  • The Gulls defeated Colby Sawyer 93-69 and Thomas College (102-65) in last year's Salem State Holiday Classic.

         CLARK COUGARS (4-5) 

  • Clark beat Framingham State 81-73 on Dec 7 in their last outing.
  • Tyler Davern averages 21.3 ppg and 10.4 rpg tp lead the Cougars.
  • Davern had a career-high 36 points in Clark's win over UMaine Presque Isle.
  • The Cougars lost to Salem State (113-88) and Endicott (93-80) in their last Salem State Holiday Classic appearnce in 2017.


          SALEM STATE VIKINGS (1-9) 

  • Salem State lost to Endicott 89-61 in their most recent game on December 12. 
  • Hakeem Animashaun leads Salem State in scoring (20.1 ppg) and rebounding (11.5 rpg).
  • Animashaun who scored his 1,000th career point earlier this year, is 1st in the nation in free throw attempts (104) and 9th in total rebounds (115).
  • The Vikings swept both games at last year's Salem state Holiday Classic, defeating Thomas (88-80) and Colby Sawyer (114-112 2OT).   

           WILLIAMS EPHS (4-3) 

  • Williams has lost two straight, losing 76-75 to Springfield on Dec 7.
  • Matt Karpowicz tops the Ephs averaging a double-double of 14.0 ppg and 10.1 rpg. 
  • Karpowicz had career highs of 29 points and 20 rebounds in the loss at Springfield.
  • The Ephs lost to WPI (73-71) and beat Salem State 84-77 in December of 2014 in their last appearance in the Salem State Holiday Classic.
