Anna Maria Slips Past Salem State 1-0

SALEM, Mass. - Lauren Lapierre's (Worcester, Mass.) goal lifted the Anna Maria Amcats to a 1-0 victory over the Salem State Vikings on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Amcats improve to 1-1 on the season and the Vikings dip to 1-1 for the year.

In the first quarter, both teams couldn't find their rhythm on the offensive side and went scoreless. The game was even at 0-0 going into halftime. The Vikings finished the first half with eight shots and five on target. The Amcats struggled with their offense with only one shot attempt.

In the third quarter, Anna Maria ended their woes on offense with a goal from Lapierre. The Amcats had a corner and Chayna Bingham-Hendriks (Mashpee, Mass.) passed it to Abigayle Celata (Baldwinville, Mass.) in the middle as she found Lapierre open to score from a yard out.

Cassandra Micklesavage (Pottstown, PA) earned the win (1-1) finishing with five saves for Anna Maria while Salem State's Kelli McCarthy (Foxborough, Mass.) took the loss (1-1).
