AMCATS Top Vikings in Season Opener

Northborough, Mass. -- Salem State opened their 2020 season against Anna Maria on Saturday at the New England Baseball Complex. The AMCATS plated 13 runs over the first four innings to pull away for a 17-8 victory. Starter Josh Bell allowed five runs on two hits, with the Vikings' defense playing a large part in a five-run Anna Maria second inning. The Vikings' offense struggled to keep pace, despite scoing in five straight innings, they managed to score multiple runs in just one inning.  

Kosta Drosidis and Adam Twitchell led Anna Maria's offense, going a combined 9-for-12 with eight RBI and four runs. Dario Tarquinio picked up the victory, going 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits and four runs with five strikeouts. Jake Boucher and Brahiam Ortega had multiple hit games for Salem State, with each player adding a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Shawn Rebello and Zach Piroh each had three hits and a pair of RBI for the Vikings.
