Salem State Honors Senior Baseball Captain Traverse Briana

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State University acknowledged senior baseball captain Traverse Briana before today's men's soccer game against MCLA. Last season, Briana led the nation with a school-record .528 batting average, which was the highest batting average in Divison III since 2003. He also finished second in the country in on base percentage and struck out the fewest times nationally with just three strikeouts for the season.

Briana was also one of the top defensive first basemen in the country, having committed only one error in 118 attempt and earned All-New England Second Team Honors. Presenting his NCAA national batting title plaque was head baseball coach Al Donovan.
