Facilities: O’Keefe Complex
The athletic training room is located on the first floor (bottom level) of the O’Keefe
Complex Room 112. All teams are welcome to use this facility for all of your pre and
post game needs.

Central Campus
There is an athletic training room located on the left side of the small building closest
to the tennis courts. This facility is used for Men’s & Women’s Tennis and Baseball.
There will be a certified athletic trainer available 1.5 hours before a contest and
approximately 1 hour after an event has concluded for any pre and post game needs.
If you will be traveling without any medical staff and need assistance, please call
or email us ahead of time.

Equipment and Supplies:
We will provide ice, water, and cups to all visiting teams. In the event of an injury, we
will supply (if necessary), crutches, splints, and any immobilizers. An AED device and
vacuum splints are present at all home contests.
We do not supply tape and wraps (pre-wrap, ace bandages), but will be happy to help
your athletes if they are sent with supplies. Upon request, water bottles and towels
can be borrowed.

Modalities:
All Certified Athletic Trainers may use any of our modalities, which include the
following: ice, hot packs, cold packs, whirlpool, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and
laser If your team is traveling with an athletic training student or without medical
personnel, please send a written note for use of ultrasound, electrical
stimulation and laser devices.

Pre-Game Preparation:
A Certified Athletic Trainer will be available from approximately two hours prior to an
event to thirty minutes after the conclusion of the event. If your team needs any
special care, please contact us in advance.

Visiting Team Information

Coverage:
A Certified Athletic Trainer will be on-site for all home contests. Athletic training
students’ in our educational program will also be at each event. At times, due to
multiple contests at one time, a Certified Athletic Trainer may need to be covering
two events simultaneously. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause
but will assure you that the highest risk sports take priority and will notify you in
advance if this is to occur so you may plan accordingly.

Reciprocal Coverage:
Starting in the Fall of 2010, many of our athletic teams will travel without a certified athletic trainer, except in the Winter and Men’s Lacrosse. In this case, we will email or call
ahead to request reciprocal coverage. In most instances, we will provided treatments and
taping needs at SSU, so all we would need is ice after activity and emergency care as
needed. Each team will travel with a stocked medical kit and water bottles. Thank you
in advance.
