A resident of Somerville, Thomas o’Brien was a four year starter at the guard position for the Salem State men’s basketball team from 1964-1968. O’Brien scored over 1,000 career points and helped the Vikings to four post season tournament appearances. He served as team captain his senior year and was a key contributor during the 1966-67 season when the Vikings posted a 27-1 record, the program’s best over performance. O’Brien currently serves as a Business Education Teacher at Somerville High School and is a member of the Somerville teachers association and the Massachusetts business teachers association. O’Brien received a Masters degree in Education from Suffolk University in 1972.
