Salem State Athletics Welcomes James Wouralis - Assistant Director for Athletic Communications and Event Management
SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State University Director of Athletics Nicolle Wood is pleased to announce the hiring of James Wouralis as the new Assistant Director for Athletics Communications and Event Management. Wouralis replaces Meghan Foley, who previously served in the role for the past two and a half years.
"We are fortunate to have someone with James' experiences and expertise join us in this role. He has managed various duties and roles in sports information and athletics communications, and we look forward to seeing his impact on the student-athlete game day experience."
Wouralis will work as an advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and will assist in the overall daily operation of the department of athletics, including event management, social media, sports information, and other areas of student support.
Prior to joining the Vikings' staff, Wouralis served in the role of Sports Information Director at Lesley University. During his time with the Lynx, he served as the primary contact for media relations and statistics. He also helped assist with the athletics social media presence by creating distinctive designs for gameday posts and conference awards.
Wouralis has worked at various colleges during his athletics communications career, including Stonehill College, Wake Forest University, UMass Lowell, Anna Maria College, and Endicott College where he gained experience with the school's sports information department. Wouralis was tasked with managing each team's athletics website and social media accounts and helped write, edit, design, and produce media guides, programs, graphics, videos, publications, and press releases while serving as a statistician for various sports.
Wouralis got his start in the sports information field with an athletic communications internship at Endicott College, where he received both his bachelors and master's degrees in Sports Management and Athletic Administration.
"I am really excited about the opportunity to join Salem State. Between the atmosphere here on campus and the great athletics staff as well, I am looking forward to getting started and making an impact on the Viking community!"
Wouralis currently resides in Lexington, Mass., with his fiancé, Victoria.
