Salem State Athletics Welcomes Meghan Foley - Assistant Director for Athletic Communications and Event Management

SALEM, Mass. -- Salem State University Director of Athletics Nicolle Wood is pleased to announce the hiring of Meghan Foley as Assistant Director for Athletics Communications and Event Management. Foley was selected in partnership with the NCAA through the organization's Strategic Alliance Matching Grant program.  

"We are excited to welcome Meghan to the Viking family as she takes on her new role. Her experiences as a D3 student athlete and work in event and game management will help us to provide an elevated game day experience for our teams, coaches and fans."

Foley will work as an advisor for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), athletics community outreach and service, and will assist in the overall daily operation of the department of athletics, including event management, social media, sports information and other areas of support to student experience. She will also serve as part of the athletics leadership team and will focus on department engagement and diversity; equity and inclusion efforts.   

Prior to joining the Vikings' staff, Foley received a graduate fellowship within the Suffolk University athletic department. She served in the role of graduate assistant in athletic operations and as an assistant coach for the Suffolk Rams women's basketball program, assisting in on-court instruction and film breakdown.    

Previously, Foley served as an intern in the athletic communications department at Gordon, where she organized the live streaming of events, served as a statistician and managed the department's social media channels and game operations staff.

Foley is a 2020 graduate of Gordon College,  earning a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Sport and Wellness, and earned her Masters of Education in Administration of Higher Education from Suffolk. She was a four-year player and two-time captain for the Fighting Scots women's basketball program. As a senior, she was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year, and was selected to the D3Hoops.com and NEWBA All-Region Second Teams. Named all-conference all four years, she finished with over 1,000 career points.
