Vikings Drop a Pair to MCLA, 3-0, and St. Joseph's, 3-2, in Tri-Match

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Salem State volleyball team (1-16, 1-4 MASCAC) dropped a pair of games to MCLA (15-8, 4-2 MASCAC) and St. Joseph's (8-11) on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match hosted in North Adams, Mass. After falling to MCLA in three sets, the Vikings went toe-to-toe with the Bluejays with three sets going into extra points.

Against MCLA, Salem State was led by junior outside hitter Darcy McDowell's (Goshen, N.Y.) four kills, and senior outside hitter Emily Hennessey (Hanover, Mass.) with 15 digs. Senior setter Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) added 13 assists.

it was a back-and-forth match with the Bluejays in game two, as the two teams traded sets: 27-25 (USJ); 26-24 (SSU); 26-24 (USJ); 25-20 (SSU); 15-10 (USJ). The Vikings were led by Adams with an impressive season-high 56 assists, a career-high 24 kills from freshman middle hitter Sarah Janco (Methuen, Mass.), and a season-high 37 digs from defensive stalwart Hennessey.

The Vikings return to action on Wednesday, October 23 against Framingham State at home at 7 p.m.
