Vikings Lose Both At Colby Tri-Meet

Waterville, Maine  -- Salem State opened their 2019 season with a tri-meet hosted by Colby College on Saturday afternoon, September 7. The Vikings lost their opening match 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-8) to Suffolk before being blanked 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) by the host Mules.

Newcomer Sarah Janco (Methuen, Mass.) paced the Vikings with seven kills on the attack for a .778 percentage in the loss to the Rams. Morgan Adams (Scotia, N.Y.) tallied 13 assists while Emily Hennessy (Hanover, Mass.) contributed nine digs.

The Vikings were once again led by Adams in the loss to Colby who accounted for 17 assists and seven digs. Hennessy had 15 digs while Danielle Sheehan (Walpole, Mass.) added 14. Genevieve Kempster (Hopedale, Mass.) registered five kills and seven digs for Salem State with Janco going 5-for-8 (.625) on the attack.
